Trifextra-a poem hesitantly titled "Emptiness"

This weekend's Trifextra challenge at Trifecta is simply to write a poem, in 33 words, 3 lines, or 3 stanzas. I went for the 33 word option.

What now?
What if?

A mistake
to ask.

We would.
We could.

A mistake
to suggest.

She left,
Afraid.

The sunlight
was cold,
The memory
small, dark.

The price:
Nothing at all,

Finally.

  2. I love the story between the lines.

    Nice:
    "A mistake
    to suggest.
    She left,
    Afraid"

  3. That's a lot of sadness in 33 words. Well done!

  4. But the price of nothing could well be everything. I felt like this persona lost without ever trying. Very Prufrockian. (OF COURSE that's a word. I'm an English teacher, and I said so.)

  5. Thank you so much for linking up to Trifextra this weekend. The challenge this weekend will be judged by the community. So please come back to the Trifecta home page and click the stars next to the three posts you most enjoyed. You only have until Monday at 8 am EST, so hurry!

  6. You did a lot with 33 words. What I like about it is that there isn't much there, but in my mind, I see an entire story about a relationship gone wrong (I see her as pregnant and it ending with abortion or adoption.) You could've had something completely different in mind when you wrote it, but that's the fun thing about poetry.
